I was going through my kitchen pantry the other day, doing a bit of a clean out, when I found of bag of glace cherries.  I must have bought them at Christmas time and just forgotten about them.  I could have done a few things with them……

 Eat them straight out of the bag.  I used to do this when I was a kid.  It drove my mum crazy!
Chuck them out, I mean who really uses glace cherries these days anyway"
Create some kind of recipe where I could use them up.

I went with option 3, although 1 was very tempting.  I just couldn’t chuck them out.  I also had a big bar of dream white chocolate in the cupboard, so I decided to make some brownies. They were so yummy that I had to get rid of them quickly otherwise I wouldn’t have eaten them all.  There was no point saving them for the kids, because they would have just turned their noses up at the cherries!! My elderly neighbour is going through chemo at the moment, so I decided he might like some afternoon tea to cheer him up.  It did just the trick, so not only had I saved the cherries but I also did my good deed for the day.  Very satisfying.
